Bare-armed, shivering, one eye on the door. [08 Jun 2006|10:21pm]
Cold.

The hard sound of rain thundering off the tin roofing, the plinks and plops and swishes as it sluices from the eaves onto the ground, into lakelike puddles.

The sky roiling dark; the smell of cool, wet growing things. The occasional gust of wind that stirs up more water sounds and a variety of new earthy scents.

Watching people cover their heads and run through the deluge, my hands buried to the forearms in cool, damp mud.

Beautiful.

fuck that shit.

Just fuck everything. I can't fucking deal anymore

It's alright, now- take the world and make it yours again [22 Apr 2006|12:31am]
Just Matt. And one guitar.

Three hundred people on the edge of their seats because we love him and we ain't never gonna stop. Oh God, when he sang Catastrophe..

"Remember how we started, 'cause since then, I'm a waste"

An absolutely breathtaking show at a small, quiet venue.

I am so, so happy; so grateful that I know of a man named Matthew Good.

"And baby can you hear it? Don't it make you want to wake up and open your eyes?"

Still unsure whether or not hottie lifeguard [x] > drowning [y] [11 Apr 2006|09:51am]
Another 2ish hours in the pool this fine morn.

I felt like less of a manatee because everyone there was either female, over 50 and asian; or male, white, over 50, and fat[ter than me] and the Twinkville Swimteam clearly doesn't practice on Tuesdays.

I'm seriously revolted by how many asshats people think they're excluded from the 'Shower Before You Get In The Fucking Pool' rule. Srsly. I swallowed some of that lukewarm chlorine-bacteria stew, and I wanted to shove a disenfectant toilet snake down my throat to rectify the problem.

Dying for the lake to finish thawing warming up.

What I really need is a car that runs on shed cat hair. [01 Apr 2006|02:42pm]
Well, gas was $1.14 a litre today, so after I put in $10 to get.. oh.. 7 something litres of gas, I decided to see if WEEPING INTO THE GAS TANK would work.

Sadly, no.

5AM. And sitting here thinking about what a goddamned fool I am.

I love watching the sunrise.

Especially when there are just enough clouds in the sky to get some 'paint' on, if you know what I mean.

But the sun should only rise between 6 am and 8 am! I've always found it slightly disturbing to watch the sun come up at five something, four something.

Even if it was an absolutely tremendous, earth-shattering shade of golden orange this morning.

"I'm letting you go to my head, like a bullet to the brain.." [25 Feb 2006|12:26pm]
Last night, much to my body's dismay, I crawled oozed went to the Philosopher Kings concert downtown.

They are an extremely talented group. So talented, that they don't need to rely on the attention PK draws; they all have their own side projects which are immensely popular.

It was an excellent concert, and I'm glad to see the Kings back together, back playing their unique brand of very un-Canadian groove with a maximum of talent.

My wrists hurt more than my ass. Which sounds kind of... dirty. [22 Feb 2006|05:02pm]
Lolz, snowboarding.

A few friends and I went up the mountain yesterday [and the day before] on free passes. And in the aid of convincing me to join this venture, more free swag. I snagged a really sweet Burton board and some boots as well- week rental, baby. Week rental.

The sheer amount of hotties that 'board is spectacular incentive to go back again this weekend. Also the cookies. And hell, it's just been far too long since I laid on my back in the snow and just... rolled around in it for the hell of it.

I had an excellent time despite myself, and despite not getting any sleep between working, driving up to the mountain, boarding for eight hours, and then going right back to work after. Bahahaha.

"BECAUSE THERE ARE DREAMS" [11 Jan 2006|03:03pm]
"BECAUSE I WANT TO," Blaine said. "THAT'S THE ONLY REASON I HAVE AND THE ONLY REASON I NEED TO HAVE. NOW LET'S GET DOWN TO BUSINESS."

I hope, I hope I hope I hope.

It's funny- if you drive backwards in your car, the odometer rolls backwards. But no matter how many steps you walk back, you can't turn back time. But I won't think like that. Not anymore.

It's 2006. And I hope, I hope, I hope.

I feel like a car salesman. Anyone want to buy a camaro? Slightly used. [04 Dec 2005|10:06pm]
Okay, abso-frickin-lutely last chance for a Christmas card!

Comment with your address, and you WILL get one!

Sure, they're not the most spectaculalr things ever arisen from me touching a pencil to paper, but every envelope is hand-made and tailored to your interests!

One of a kind, and you know they're gonna be worth something if you blackmail me with the fact I've ever created them after I've improved a hundredfold and am a famous artist! Plus, you get a nifty little budget surprise in your hand-made envelope! WOW.

I've finished 14, and the first batch goes out Wednesday. I want every last one of them done and gone this week, so make your move now!

Here's your public apology.

I retract previous statement about wanting you dead, 'dad'. Because, of course, I should have nothing but love for you for everything you've ever done.

Now stay the fuck out of my life. Forever. Get the fucking hint and stop living in the past and stop living your life vicariously through mine.

This is the last time I'm ever acknowledging your existance, and even this makes me ill to do.

[Edit]

Oh, friends-only elgay from now on, for obvious reasons.

Tis the season for Canada Post to go on strike or something! [14 Nov 2005|10:36am]
Alright, everyone!

Christmas Cards!

Post a comment with your address, they're all filtered- and I'll send you a little something and a card.

Log in [if you're on my friends list] to view where you can send me a card if you so desire, or drop me an email.

...and if I sent you a card last year, uh.. gimme your address again because I have no idea where I put my address list...

And on a related note:

Goddamn I love toque season! They are *the* hottest winter accessory on me and now that the snow's creeping further down the mountains every day, I can wear one nonstop! Yay, winter!

"Every little thing that you say or do, I'm hung up- I'm hung up on you.." [08 Nov 2005|08:03am]
Oh God, it was cold. It was 3 tonight. 3. That's like.. ZERO and three more. Aieiieie. The epiphany of the night was that space heaters the size of my foot do nothing to increase the temperature in a given area. I'd rather cold and snow ten thousand times more than miserable cold rain, but I don't think that'll be happening soon. Yay, November weather.

And now for shits and giggles, here's my wacky Christmas List :

I'd be lying if I said it was in any way, shape or form feasable, affordable, or even sane.

Haha, there's like.. three things on this list that could vaguely possibly be arranged, but hey. Unless someone's got the Devil in a headlock or a winning Lotto ticket in their back pocket, I'm not holding my breath. So without further ado:

Santa baby, forgot to mention one little thing... )

And there you have it, folks: the fifteen things I want more than anything. I don't ask much, do I.

COUGHSNORT.

"I swim with the fishes, cause the fish are alright- oh my my, just to get you to bite.." [04 Nov 2005|07:11pm]
Tonight, I'm off to see Matt Good.

One of my clearest memories of him is from Thunderbird Stadium, early 90s. I'm to the left of him, jammed up against the front railing- rocking the hell out, and he's standing there with this fuck-you look in his dark eyes; hollow-cheeked, rake-thin body backdropped against a cannon and a blazingly white MGB Company banner, and he's screaming to the crowd that he's indestructable, like he's daring anyone, anyone to argue.

Been with you this long, Matt. I'm a fan for life, no matter what direction your music takes you.
